When you sign up for Hatchbuck*, they give you a blank canvas to get started. The tools are there, but you need to personalize Hatchbuck to fit YOUR business needs. One of the items that you need to personalize is the lead source field. This is critical to ensure that you are tracking where your leads are coming from, including what lead sources are generating sales. Hatchbuck does not include any default lead sources, so you need to add your own. If you've never done this before and starting from scratch, you'll wonder what exactly to put into this field. In the addition to the quick tutorial on how to add lead sources in Hatchbuck, we've included a list of general lead sources that should be good for most businesses.

Keep in mind, this list will cover the general sources of leads that you may get. But, don't be afraid to be creative and come up with your own that's specific to your business. For example, instead of simply listing "Referrals" you can break it down into more segmented sources like Partner Referrals, Customer Referrals, etc. You can either be specific to partner names if any of your partners send you constant stream of referrals.

If you want to keep this list in a more manageable, more general form we would recommend using tags in Hatchbuck for more in-depth segmentation for your lead sources. For example, you can tag leads with Digital Advertising lead source with Adwords or PPC or Facebook Ads or LinkedIn Ads, etc.
